City Lit Mental Wealth Festival Exhibition: "Being"

  • City Lit 1-10 Keeley Street London, England, WC2B 4BA United Kingdom (map)

My painting ‘Pink and Gold’ will be part of the Being group show at the City Lit in October.

The exhibition, curated by Ian Tucknott, will be held in the City Lit Gallery on 2-14 October, to coincide with City Lit's Annual Mental Wealth Festival & World Mental Health Day.

“Being is an exhibition that delves into the richness and complexity of existence - what it means to be alive, to feel, to connect, and to create. Through a wide range of traditional and experimental media, the artists explore the many dimensions of being: from the intimate experience of inhabiting a sensory and emotional body, to being with others, existing in the wider world, and reflecting on the nature of creativity itself.

Being invites viewers to consider the full spectrum of mental and emotional states - from wellness to unwellness, clarity to confusion - and to embrace the profound, often messy reality of simply being. The works in this exhibition offer a space for reflection: some are quiet and contemplative, drawing us inward; others confront us with raw emotion, disquieting forms, or themes of grief, disconnection, and loss; others still invite us into imagination, to envision others ways of being or re-vision our sense of self or the world around us.

Whether evoking moments of peace or provoking discomfort, these works remind us that to be human is to navigate a shifting landscape of thoughts, feelings, and states of mind. Being doesn’t seek to define or solve - it asks us to pause, pay attention, and make space for the full, complicated truth of what it means to exist.”
