Fragmented Landscapes
These paintings are an attempt to describe what it feels like to be in a landscape. In them, I try to convey the feeling of being part of the scene, including references to smell, touch and taste, rather than just as a ‘view’, seen from afar.
It’s challenging to describe a more subjective experience. For me, it often means experiencing the landscape in fragments, rather than as some kind of graspable whole. It might mean feeling embedded in the scene, or even overwhelmed by it.
