Process: painting agricultural industry in the landscape

I found a large piece of iron roofing in a sheep pen in Donegal. It was dented and bendy, with rusty edges, speaking I thought about the way the beautiful landscape is often littered with cast-offs from the agricultural industry it supports.

The painting came quite easily. It felt right to splatter it with left-over household paint and then make bold lines with a large brush from which a rough building seemed to emerge. I surrounded it with a muddy pale yellow oil paint, to reflect the dying ground cover in the winter.
